Advanced Machining Announces Promotion
Company Promotes Paul Lutz to EDM and Maintenance Specialist
SALISBURY, NC – December 10, 2019 – Advanced Machining & Tooling, LLC, a leading manufacturer of precision metal components, with capabilities including both EDM and CNC machining, announced Tuesday that it has promoted Paul Lutz to the newly created position of EDM and Maintenance Specialist effective immediately.
“Paul is an extremely dedicated professional, with outstanding knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes,” said Keith Felts, Advanced Machining’s President, who himself is a leading expert in this technology, especially sinker EDM. “He joined us five years ago from GF Machining Solutions, a leading manufacturer of wire EDM equipment. He immediately brought to us the vast breadth and depth of knowledge he had acquired over sixteen years as a field service technician with GF.”
“Paul is terrific to work with,” said Pat Reynolds, Advanced Machining’s Operations Manager. “He does a great job with equipment maintenance in addition to his lead role with our EDM operations. I am very happy that his accomplishments are being recognized.”
Paul began his career with Advanced Machining in 2014. He initially served in quality control, and then as a machinist with focus on EDM processes before being promoted to his current position. Paul gained great understanding of electrical discharge machining processes, particularly wire EDM, as a field service technician from 1998 to 2014 for GF Machining Solutions. Prior to that, he served as a Petty officer third class in the US Navy.
“Recognizing talent, providing advancement opportunities, and promoting from within are things that are very important to us,” said Gary Holcomb, CEO of Advanced Machining as well as its sister companies Quality Products & Machine, LLC and Tri-Tec Industries, LLC, both located in Charlotte. “We look forward to Paul having many more good years with us.”
Advanced Machining operates from a 10,000-square-foot facility in Salisbury, NC at 215 Forbes Avenue. It manufactures complex prototype and low-to-mid volume metal parts, focusing on blue chip customers in the telecommunication, medical, aerospace and defense markets. Keith Felts and his partner Bobby Miller founded Advanced Machining in 1985. The company’s precision processes now span the gamut from wire and sinker EMD to 5-axis CNC machining with pallet changers to turning centers with live tooling to support turning and milling in a single set-up.
